The single cylinder will have more low end torque, but the twin V will be able to revolve higher in RPM's, creating more horsepower.
V twin may use two carburetters. Cost will be more when replacing spark plugs. V twin will be smoother running with less vibration, and may get better mpg.

The difference is in the configuration.
An inline engine (I'll use a 4 cylinder for example) has a long crankshaft, with a separate journal for each rod to attach to, resulting in a wider engine. Because of this arrangement, all 4 cylinders are exposed to the air for cooling, but the center two (If the cylinders are a single casting with all 4 cylinders bored into it, the most common type) tend to run hotter than the outer two.
A "V" engine (mostly a twin) has a short crank, usually with only one journal, that both rods attach to, resulting in a very narrow package for the engine size. In this arrangement, the front cylinder tends to partially block the cooling air from the rear cylinder, causing the rear cylinder to run hotter.

It's simple Petrol engine- give it petrol, it goes. Problems are generally minor but do occur More torque and acceleration but higher fuel consumption Diesel- More complicated set up but if there is a prob it is a prob. Diesel engines need the right amount of fuel + air at the right quantities. Less torque but more economical and cleaner. For big mileage go diesel For small go petrol (more fun to drive)

V engines are more square and take up less room under the hood. A inline ("I") engine is more rectangular and longer so the engine compartment needs to be bigger. Generally inline engines are known for their torque. V engines are more popular as every car manufacturer makes them. BMW (cars) still makes inline (and V) engines since they're such good engines.

a single cylinder engine will rev higher than a 2 cylinder think about a single cylinder dirt bike no low end torque and a lot of revs a twin has more rotating mass so it will rev slower but there is more mass so it will have more torque my rc51 has more torque at 2500 rpms than most bikes do at their peak output it revs slower than my zrx1200 i would say the two cylinder would make more power and it will definitely have more torque

A V simply means that the pistons are at an angle to the cam. An inline, or straight, means that the pistons stand straight above the cam.
