An incisive portrait of an alcoholic Hollywood executive (Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage) who moves to Las Vegas to drink himself to death. Elisabeth Shue plays a prostitute who comes to know and love him, without trying to change him or upset his nihilistic agenda. Cage and Shue mesmerize as a marginalized couple who cling to each other despite the direness of their circumstances.
My own words: drunk meets prostitute and they have a freaked out relationship.

The plot is for Nick Cage to KILL HIMSELF!
He loses everything and plans to go to las vegas and kill himself. He meets the hooker but tells her "no matter what happens, don't try to stop me from drinking." And she is a darn good woman who does not try to change her man, she just excepts the fact that he IS going to drink himself to death, and she just tries to make the best of his *final* days on earth.
Good Movie! Sad, but good!

basically and sufficiently explained already. but really i won't recommend it. i'd rather down a whole bottle of jack daniels than watching it over again. a total anti-thesis of a feel-good movie
