Recently I visited one of my friends house, she was having a get together with some of her friends. They were all of 'african american decent'. We were all drinking, I had been drinking before I even got there- so I was pertty lightweight drunk, non the less-bottom line, I said the 'N' word several times that night and they felt offended. Its nothing out of the ordinary 4 me- The "N" word is part of my every day vocab. I say it all the time to my, hispanic asian white and african american people I know--even my same friend that night.
I have never used it in the contex to suggest or even implement any sort of derrogotory remark. In all of the neighborhoods I grew up in,the word has no wrong doing or racist connotation, depending on who says it and how-- any ways before I left I apologized for saying anything offensive but told them.. " Don't worry about saying the word "n**ga", Im full blooded mexican.. I grew up with 'ni**as', my best friends are 'ni**as... I am their 'ni**a

Using the "N" word amongst you friends is one thing. You were at a party. Granted most of the people there were black but all black people don't feel the same about using the "N" word casually like that. My suggestion, Unless you're trying to offend do not use it around strangers.

It's a word that just needs to go away. Ask Michael Richards what he thinks about that word now. I would say it's never acceptable, and if the hip-hop culture continues to use it to refer to each other, that continues to further the double-standard regarding the word.

It's a disgusting, hateful, derogatory word that no one should use. You can say whatever you want but that doesn't make it right. Why would you want to say something so nasty and hurtful to people you consider friends?

Why do people keep asking this question?

I don't see a problem with the word. If you offended them, oh well. It's just a word.

Remember the old elementary school saying, "sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me."

Well, I am a big believer in that saying.

People continue to use the word ******, queer, fat-azz, lard-azz, spick, wet-back, cracker and honky..so I don't see a problem with the N word. Use it and have fun with it.

Good Luck, Niggle :-)

My "Motto" is accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative.
The "n" word is negative. It wouldn't even enter my mind. By being positive, I love life. That is something negative people seem not to be able to comprehend.

White People shouldn't use it. Didn't you learn anything from Kramer? If you use it we might just sue you...>:)
or beat u up or other things you wouldn't find so amusing..
By the way the comedian Paul Mooney just hung that word up....

There is nothing wrong with saying that. They sometimes even call themselves that. I don't believe that it is a bad word.
