I'm using it to cruise the streets rather than reach high speeds or travel on highways. I'm a little concerned with a motorbike because my hubby is soo going to speed and don't want that..

I recently had to make that decision but i was looking at a big scooter for highway use, price helped make the choice, otherwise you should not be embarrassed about being environmental aware. and see who is laughing when fuel hits $2 a letre. I can not see any shame in having ease and convenience of use. you can always apply the don't buy a bike/scoot that you can not pick up when you drop it. second hand and decent could be had for $600

nothing wrong with scooters.My sister brought a 80cc twist and go vesper so you don't need to worry about clutch and gears etc it was a good size and kept up with town traffic easy. No good on highway though.will try find out prices and let you know I'm just over the ditch in NZ so the make and models should not be to different

Scooters rock!!! They are VERY economic, use very little gas! If you only want 50cc I'm sure as to how fast it will go, depends on if you plan of using it for highway traveling!
