well you'd have to decide ......would you rather have that person on the inside of the tent pissing out or on the outside of the tent pissing in.

i know the layman's term is a little crude but do you get the point?

as for me ......a manager is supposed to be the ultimate example for people to want to follow. there is the question of professional ethics....how much are they worth ...to you...your company? this person is supposed to be the coach on your team which is a position of esteem.....usually well earned....and rewarded.....but also coaches get fired if ineffective....yeah?

This happens a lot at work place.

First, figure out what your positon is at.
1. If you are a suboridnate, don't hurry to reveal this. Becuase even it is true, you might not get support from other senior managers, he has his friends.....and he might fireback by giving another lie, you might suffer.

2. If you are his boss, you must consider if you want to assign him important jobs. and depend on what consequences this lie brings, you will figure out your decision.

'It depends what the lie is about'. If the lie is concerning some element of operations?, or is it a crime he's lieing about, or simply whether or not he's been in the army, or did he lie about attending the symphony when in fact he was having dinner with his mistress and was spotted by one of his employees.

it really depends on what the lie is about. If it affects nothing, i wouldn't worry about anything. If it affects the integrity of the business, you might want to say something to someone you trust.
If it affects other workers, then i'd stay out of it. good luck.
