I've just taken my daughter to the doctor for painful periods. They've gien her painkillers, which promise to help.
Periods should not control your life - they should be a minor inconveience, not a problem. Please make an appointment and see a doctor. They can help you.

You probably have a common disease in women, endometriosis. It causes very painfull cramping, heavy and irregular periods, pain during ovulation, and eventually as the disease progresses you have pelvic pain almost everyday. If you do have this disorder, based on your symptoms of painfull periods, you would also get adhesion's and cysts that eventually will require surgery to remove. Go see your doctor ASAP and get checked out to see if you have this disease. And ask for narcotic pain meds like vicodin or Tylenol with codeine. Tell him or her that the pain is not going away with over the counter meds like Advil. At first they may try to give you a non-narcotic pain reliever (like Naproxen), and it will help some but they are useless for the severe pain associated with this disease. Good luck, I've been there!

This sounds like me about three years ago. I went to doctor who diagnosed chlamidyia!!! Grrrrr! So annoyed (no, I was 100% sure I didn't haev it) I struggled on for three days and ended up being rushed to casulty screaming in pain.
Please go to your gp and don't leave until you are satisfied. I was eventually diagnosed with endometriosis (this is the correct spelling by the way) which has many symptoms including painful periods. To correct the previous answerer, dismenoriha (painful periods) is a symptom of endometriosis, not a milder form of it. All it means is painful period and can be a symptom of many different things, not a disease in its own right. Please go to gp.
I hope things turn out for you and you're not fobbed off.

When I was younger I use to have terrible period pains, too the point I would be passing out with pain and I would be in bed for the first couple of days. I went to the doctor and was prescribed the contraceptive pill, which helped greatly. It also helped regulate my periods which were erratic. My advice would be got to the doctors, don't suffer.

Go and see your GP. You may have Endimetriosis (or the milder from Dismeneria). I suffer from the latter and have been diagnosed as also having polycystic ovaries which are very painful at the time of the month.
Dont suffer in silence, we experience pain so our bodies can tell us when something is wrong

If you can get an appointment in that socialist paradise try low dose birth control pills. You may have to try several different kinds before you find one that helps. Don't rule out the shot or other forms of hormone based birth control that will actually eliminate your period for longer stretches of time. Good luck, that can be brutal.

if your new to having periods, then it may take a few months to settle. however a friend of mine always had bad stomach cramps, and unfortunately suffered like this when she had periods. it is normal for some people unfort. the best help would be a hot water bottle at night, some painkillers may help if it was that bad. there are tablets now for menstrual period that may help. if it becomes a regular thing, i would ask your doctors advice if there is anything stronger you could take that may help. hope this helps!!
