I have no idea what you're talking about, but the sentence is wrong. The host greeted him and me. If you don't believe me, try
The host greeted I. Doesn't make sense, does it?
Him and me are object, host is subject.
Unless you were to say The host greeted him and I punched him in the face. Then I becomes subject. Ha ha. I don't condone violence, but I really hate bad grammar.

The host is the subject and the verb is greeted while Him and I is something else; they are receiving the action from the subject... i think that is called the indirect object.

"The"- determiner
"host"- main subject
"greeted"-verb
"him, I"- direct object
"and"- conjunction.
The word "host" is the subject of the sentence. The direct object is a word (noun, phrase etc.) that recieves the action.

Who made up the sentence? Greeted is the action but what about him and I? If you leave out the him, would you say, " The host greeted I? Or me?" The direct object.
