first of all you should start reading about viruses, spyware, malware, etc. on one of my favorite websites. www.bleepingcomputer.com
next you should try and clean up your system. some of my favorite programs are
AVG FREE by Grisoft (antivirus)
Spybot Search and Destroy (antispyware)
AVG Anti Spyware (antispyware)
Adaware (antimalware)
Start with those. Now stop using Internet Explorer and switch to firefox browser. You'll be glad you did
If you are not behind a firewall, get one.
ZoneAlarm
Kerio
Sygate
are a few good firewalls.
This should get you started on the road to recovery. You probably never took precautions ever before, and now you are paying the price. It may take a while to clean your system up, but if you are patient, then you might get your computer back in tip top shape.

An Open symptom of Virus Infection. Yes ur system has definitely infected. Do a complete virus scan with any good and well named company's Antivirus, spyware software. Norton Internect Security Suite 2007 is fine. QuickHeal is also emerging as very powerfull scanning engine. Others also is available in market.

Buy a good antivirus with internet protection. Norton Internet Security is really good. I download a lot of music, movies, my laptop is on 24/7 and I've never had any problem with a virus, trojan... You should also download ad-aware, it's free and it's great, you can download it at www.lavasoft.com
