An honest person brings light into the world, and often light is not wanted in the dark recesses of mans selfishness and causes great pain for the truth bringer and the recipient.....So he often does not make the world happy, just a better place......

It depends how you define honesty. I think being straight foraward and giving an honest answer when asked is a great characteristic. However I don't think being brutally honest or even insulting is - I'll give an example I have a friend who has very bad acne scars. She tried some new foundation which reduced the initial impact of the scars she asked how she looked and my friend responded by saying she still had as many potholes as a badly mantained country road. Technically speaking he wasn't lying, but there was no need to be that blunt!
So honesty is great, but I think honesty and being blunt/rude is a very fine line!

I think it generally makes the world a better place. There are a few cases where honesty is not the best course of action. Probably honesty tempered with a bit of compassion is the ticket.

Yes. But sometimes honesty causes more money. Like reporting a lost $5 bill to the police. The police station will spend more money processing this than if the $5 was just kept.

Only half the time. Honesty could also be sometimes insulting. So it's better to keep quiet sometimes than to be blatantly honest. Of course, the truth is also very important especially when it comes to crimes and murder and stuff.
