I hear people talk about marriage like its nothing. "Oh you love each other? You should get married!" Its as if they think that money and life choices have no basis if love is involved. Compare the verbage in home loan paperwork and a marriage license and you will be surprised at the similar wording. Marriage, at its legally binding core, is a business transaction.

So why is it that family and friends tend to urge caution in a situation like finding a home loan, but can start asking a couple about wedding bells after a period as short as 6 months together? (Especially when you consider that a loan is 10 years and marriage is supposed to be until death do you part)

People do have reasons for doing what they did. Most probably there are personal reasons that even closed family members may not be told. Its only normal for people to get married once they feel the time is right for both parties. Marriage is not a guarantee for the 'till death do us part'. Many would like it that way but people do change just like the moon does get round sometimes thus the divorces.

why not if they know that A good marriage is an intimate and loving relationship which gives both partners security, friendship, companionship, support, comfort, and deep love that penetrates every aspect of life. None of this can be achieved without work and sacrifice.

Marriage may be compared to a plant that requires daily nurture, daily attention, daily care and cultivation. It will not develop of its own accord; only as effort and will are exerted will it grow and mature. For a marriage to succeed, both husband and wife must be committed to its success. They must build an enduring love relationship that is centered in the heart of their consciousness. Their relationship must be nurtured with the water of loyalty and love.

Well, most intelligent, thoughtful families don't rush their family members into marriage bc they understand it's not something that should be taken lightly. However, many families are full of simple people with zero foresight, who simply want to marry off children bc they think that marriage will make them complete and normal members of society. Boo.
