I never heard of it meaning someone got pregnant, but in any case, it's funny in an ironic way that this place called the "love shack" with glitter on the mattresses actually _is_ a crappy, run-down shack with a cheap, rusted tin roof.
It's sort of a hilarious reminder amid all the revelry and good times and memories that ... the beloved place is a crap hole.

It means that the love shack had a rusted tin roof. Common to older buildings in the south.

The song is refering to an actual "shack" in the suburbs of Atlanta which has a rusted tin roof.

It was an ad-lib during recording of the song that was left in. As the refrain started, "Tiiiiin Roof", the playback equipment failed, causing the singer to spurt out, "rusted!" as a joke. They though it sounded cool and left it in.

( ironicly ,a friend was living on a farm & his girlfriend at the time spent the evening there , some possums died in the roof & in the heat of summer the maggots fell through the joins in the ceiling - apparently she got kind of grossed out )

geez... i always hated that part of the song. nobody can understand what the hell she's saying anyway. how moronic to make that the part of the song that stands out the most!!

I don't know...but their are better B-52's songs than loveshack. Try their earlier stuff. much better if you ask me
