Limewire itself will not infect your computer with a virus. There are definitely many viruses out there that can be downloaded USING limewire though. I would suggest that if you are not very computer "savvy" then I would not use a Peer2Peer program like this if you want to eliminate the risk of getting a virus.
In reality, if you are just using it to download audio files, you generally won't get any viruses. But there are files that can appear to be audio files that are really hidden executables which can contain viruses, which is where it takes some technical knowledge to know not to download those types of files. But for the most part, if you know what you are doing in the least bit you will be fine.

I under no circumstances had a situation with Limewire until I downloaded a software and a plague popped up (even though it replaced into taken care of by using my McAfee protection application). in assessment to different courses i've got tried contained in the previous (Moerpheus and Kazaa contained in the early 2000's) Limewire does no longer have undercover agent ware. shop on with songs (mp3 purely) and video clips/video clips (.avi purely) and you ought to be ok. Run an anti-virus sweep each now and then just to be secure. get carry of and proportion carefully and you ought to no longer be caught or sued by using some super music or action picture enterprise. If it incredibly is been working for an prolonged time or i'm downloading a super type of courses it may decelerate cyber web velocity to a flow slowly. each so often this maintains even whilst Limewire isn't working - although rebooting my cable modem continuously gets the cyber web working prevalent back.

I'd been using limewire for like 2 years and yet I didn't get any viruses... I think it's safe. But you should scan your downloaded files.

There is a very good chance that you will get viruses, spyware and trojans by using p2p networks like Limewire. But you can avoid them if you have got strong security. Still, it is advisable to stay away from them.

yah make sure you have a virus protector if you are in the states. Make sure whatever you download you move to another folder that can't be searched, otherwise you can get busted. If you are in Canada you are fine, if you are in the states, be prepared to get caught by the RIAA or MPAA...I have had friends get caught. What I do instead is record tracks from Rhapsody and then cut them in Sound Forge or Adobe Audtion 2.0. I use an sound recorder that is software based and it records the music going through my sound card. Takes a little time, but in the end you don't get virus' or busted.

no downloading stuff off any p2p network is not illegal or perfectly safe. if you own lets say a movie and you download it is legal if you don't own it you have to delete it within 24 hours or it becomes illegal. Also anything you download should be scanned for viruses and adwear...if not your just asking for problems.
