when you don't eat, the food you should have eaten will be replaced by air, & it is air that will eventually get into your brain? This in turn will get you “crazy” just like the homeless, penniless people on the streets?
I want to know the adverse effects on the brain, if any.

hehe...I have never heard that before!

If you don't eat AT ALL, your brain may not be getting the nutrients and necessary things it needs to stay sharp. Brains need food :) You could become delirious from lack of food.

However, there is nothing about air that is going to make it that way. Oxygen is of course in the blood and all organs of your body need oxygen to survive and thrive, so it travels on the hemoglobin in the blood to sustain your organs, but this is something completely unrelated to your question.

You are correct that homeless people do have high instances of mental illness, but they tend to be homeless because of the mental illness. They are not mentally ill because of lack of food. Substance abuse can make these mental afflictions even worse.

no, honey,,,, that is total bull. it's not possible for air in your stomach to get into your brain. and just because you dont eat, doesn't mean the space is filled with air, actually, it's filled with bile (stomach acid), and your stomach shrinks smaller when it's empty.

malnourishment in a long term will affect your system, brain, skin, other organs.... but not from breakfast to lunch. not even from breakfast on Monday to breakfast on Thursday. you'll probably get tired, and not be able to think correctly after missing a few meals, but it's not going to kill you unless you have diabetes or low blood sugar.

and, most of the time, the homeless people aren't starving, they're getting food from other places like hand outs or soup kitchens.

i have no clue who told you that, but (s)he is a moron. when you dont eat, your body looks to alternate sources of nurishment, like body tissue. fat and muscle. air cannot get into your blood without some pressure differential, usually caused by someone doing something stupid witha compressor or a mistake while scuba diving. air in your blood stream is called the bends. it causes severe pain, and if the bubble reaches your brain, you die of a stroke.
