Everything we know and love will come to pass. Shakespeare, Greek philosophy, Mcdonalds, Microsoft, great films and cinema, our families and loved ones, Yahoo Answers, Nintendo, the great works of literature, the NBA, scientific knowledge, Corona, consciousness, etc, etc. It will all end one day. Human existence cannot last forever. So why should we care?

An age old question. And of all the answers that all the Philosophers have ever made, i like the one that came in the form of a Goth chick in a comic book named Death. While death has often been the cause of sorrow, Neil Gaiman reminds us that everything is a two sided coin. That everything defines its opposite. As death defines life.
Everything that ends is all the more precious because it has an ending. You never really know what you've got 'till its gone.

Many years have passed since Shakespeare and Greek philosophy first existed, why do you still mention them? You also mentioned quite a number of other more recent names/things, why? It is an indication, to me, that you care. We should care because we ought not to be selfish. It is as simple as that. As long as we are still alive, we should care. We cannot care anymore after we die, can we?

i will give you one example that will make you think twice about valuing life or not... i hate to use this as an example but it will assist my point, take a look at a quadriplegic... a good look. if they can value life and even have a smile on their face just by being able to see the light of day, imagine how a fully functional person sHoULd feel about life. do you have aNY idea what the quadriplegic would do to be in your shoes?...so value the life you can have, it may not last forever but enjoy it while you can

Even if something lasted forever, there would be still the question of why we should care about it. A neverending turd would still be a turd.
I don't know why you think it makes a difference whether something lasts forever or comes to an end.

Dust in the wind...
4.5 billion years ago, our planet was just beginning. Maybe we only have a few billion years left, and maybe our species has only a tiny fraction of that time left. But while we're here, let's give 'er. If it is all for nought, at least we'll have a hell of a run!
Better we take over the galaxy then those damn Romulans.

Yep, all them except consciousness. The other, material, things are not meant to last forever. They're just tools for us to learn from but the consciousness, the I that's doing the learning, does last forever and that's why you should care.

The more we should care because we know that we are going to pass anyway. We are lucky that we are alive and have a chance to make something great. We ought to be thankful that we are experiencing these things. We should treasure them more knowing that they won't last forever.

Nothing lasts forever, but we do not know how long it will lasts! We should care, for it could be anything from a few seconds to years. Appreciate it while it lasts, better it while we can.

Why wouldn't you want to enjoy what you can while you can?
Needless To say, Life Is Short... But it doesn't mean you can't enjoy it's simple pleasures while you're here!
One thing I don't believe in, is living everyday like it's your last. IF that were the case, I would be constantly running like a chicken with my head cut off. :)

It strue that everythis will come to end but the process/ cycle ensures that everyone reaps what he sows. knowledge, relatives, cinema all the things around us are actually trying to tell us something.. Do good and get good. Do bad and suffer.
