braxton hicks will stop when you change activity if your having them while laying down stand up and take a few steps, if you are standing up and having them lay down if they dont stop then they are real contractions. and for me braxton hicks feel just like my stomach gets tight then dont get tight. but real contractions i feel a sence of tighness in my whole entire stomach and sides. and with me my contractions didnt hurt until i was dialated at 6 and were painful. and my water didnt break until i was dialated at 8 so you could start labor and not really know until your contractions become painful. so if you start having contractions that are painful then that is when i would go to the hospital. some women dont experiance bad labor pains untill they are dialated good.

Some of us who have a lot of prelabor and braxton hicks contractions don't always have a clear line of when actual labor starts. Some women are fortunate and their first pain is labor and they KNOW it has hit.

If you have never had a baby before you will be suprised by the power of true labor.......thus the word labor.

You are saying you are cramping without stopping?
You better can your doctor

That reminds of when I noticed I was in labor. I felt a lot of nervous contractions and they would last a long time. Then another one would come, and last a long time. Then I just felt like a lot of muscles were being used a lot and I felt I was probably in labor.

The change in length of the BH contrax and the duration did clue me in.

Also this happened when I was in a movie and it was part of being tense so I didn't realize my contractions weren't me being tense.

I didn't go into full fledged labor until like 8 hrs later. No way would I have reported to the hospital with those tiny contractions... wait a while until you go into active labor 4-7 cm dialated and you won't have to sit around in a horrible hospital. My contractions were 15 minutes apart for like 8 hrs!!! And immediately they were 12 and then 10 mins apart... which they were forever!! It wasn't until I was really tired, like another 12 hrs, that I really felt the baby drop.

my water did not break until i was well into my labor. i was in labor for 28 hours. my water broke like 5 hours before i gave birth on its own. braxton hicks feel NOTHING like real contractions. when you go into labor, trust me you'll know. it's recommended anyway, that you do not go to the hospital right away unless you're high risk. in my case i started labor at 3 pm. i went to the hospital at 2 am and they sent me back home even though i was already dialated 2 cm. i was not admitted until 6 am. definitely time your contractions, it helps. braxton hicks aren't as regular as real contractions are.

I have never had my waters break they always had to be broken for me. when you go into labor you will know because they are alot different to braxton hicks. In most cases your stomach will rise and become really hard and not a round shape, it will graually become more painfull, but believe me you will know. Good luck

Believe me you'll know.It is much more intense than braxton hick ups. My water did not break until an hour before my daughter was born. And i was in labour for 7 hours so.

Just hang in there and go to your doctor so he can see if you are dialated.

Good luck

My personal experience is that the pre labor pains before your water breaks are a bit more painful than normal. If they are not stopping Id go to the doc.
