Ever have an existential moment?

One day your just minding your own business when you suddenly realize and become aware of your own existance. You look at your hands in amazement and wonder "What the **** is this?'

Oh and you can't be high. Thats cheating.

I get this often. It happens more when I'm alone and its quiet and it seems my body is not a part of me. Like I'm inside my body instead of being a part of it. Its the few rare moments that I really think the spirit is seperate from the flesh.

All the time actually.

I remember one time I had just finished a particularly tiring part of basic combat training, and we went back to our platoon area to sleep. I was just laying there, and it was the first night it hadn't rained, so I could actually see the stars while I laid there. Then it hit me like a brick. I came to realize how we were smaller than ants on the "grand scheme". I realized how small and finite our actions were (however significant to us). I almost felt like dropping everything I was doing, and just saying why, but then I came back to my senses. Regardless of how infinitely small we were, my drill sergeant would still get pissed, so I kept doing what I was told.

That pretty much sums up almost every moment of my life (even the moments when I wasn't high). Actually, I'm still trying to believe that this isn't true for everyone.
