Should she ask him to pay for it or give some money back? Should he pay?

Hot is right. Before you start demanding payment you should check the plumbing. Also you could contact the city water and sewer department. Sometimes jewelry gets washed into the area in the sewer where your house discharge dumps into the sewer line. It doesn't hurt to ask anyway.

Leave the child alone. What was the wedding ring doing off her finger? Why wasn't anyone watching the child? If he had time to do that he'd have time to drink the bowl cleaner.

you maybe could still fish it out of there - it's heavy so it may well be caught in the u-bend.

don't make them pay. it was an honest mistake and as soon as you have kids they're bound to do some stoopider things.

depends on if she was supposed to be watching him. If she was the one in charge than its her fault for not supervising him. If his mom was supposed to be supervising him than its her fault and should be reimbursed.
