I saw a report on the news about a place in Alaska called the North Pole. They get a whole bunch of volunteers together and respond to all of the letters that are sent to them. It's pretty nice really, all the kids get a response from "Santa". You can check it out at www.northpolealaska.com

In the city I live in, the postal service delivers the letters to the news paper, the news paper then has a special section they set aside for those letters, the news paper publishes the names with a number behind it, so that if anyone would like to buy a present and submit it, then they take the gift to the news paper, the news paper sends it to the postal office, and free of charge the gift is delivered to the child that requested the gift, from Santa.
I think that is the greatest thing that this city has done for the children that don't have, or won't have, or is temporarily in need.

no seriously if you put a return address on the envelope the post office sends you a post card from santa it's so cool the kids love it! i don't know if they actually send the letters anywhere!

i work for the post office. where i live we make sure there is an address when we pick up the letters out of the boxes and we send a reply back to the childern.some of them will break your heart and some will make them swell.merry christmas
