I found a huge natural orange sapphire at a local pawn shop and I was wondering if anyone knows the value of natural heat enhanced orange sapphires? Its aprox. 9mmx9mm.

Its a real sapphire, not lab created. I believe its been heat enhanced but am not 100% sure. How can I tell?

Orange Sapphires are on of the "rarer" colors of the Sapphire family, however, it is highly common for Orange Sapphire to be "diffused."
What this means is that they take "low-grade" material and diffuse it with beryillium. THailand has been doing it for years and Orange color is highly known for it.
If it is, the value of the stone is maybe $18.00 price per carat.
If it isn't...then far more depending on how clean.
I suggest spending a few dollars and send it to AGTA. This is a world recognized lab for grading and testing gemstones.

just because the pawn shop says its a sapphire, doesn't mean it is. they should have a machine that you put stones into, and the machine tells you what it is. use the machine and see what it says. If they don't have such a machine, I wouldn't buy it. It could easily be a citron, or even acrylic.

If it's genuine, grade it like a diamond. There are gem books at jewelery stores that state prices of stones according to their grade, color, etc.

So, is it natural, or is it heat-enhanced (or irradiated)?

If it's natural, it's called a Padparadscha, and is more valuable than a blue sapphire.
