Ned Colletti has really done a good job with this team. Liberthal will be a great backup and mentor to Russel Martin, Luis Gonzales should be a good middle of the order hitter and if Kent can get his swing back for another season then the team should have enough power with Nomar of course.
But I cannot wait as a Dodgers fan to see Pierre and Furcal together. I wonder if Furcal could play at the 3rd spot in the order. It seems silly but last year he was hitting for power and soring a lot of runs. But we should run the hell out of most teams.
Then the pitching is also great. We have one of the best rotations in all of baseball i think.

2-5 vs. Cubs a million-2 vs. Cardinals 2-4 vs. Brewers 3-4 vs. Mets 0-0 vs. Phillies So the Dodgers are a blended 8-15 (.348) adverse to the finest communities in the nationwide League. NL West communities are only battling for the right to get their asses kicked in the NLDS, like the Dodgers did in 2004. Manny, whose production is a ways down from the position it became 2 years in the past, can no longer make the Dodgers a intense contender. they are going to be fortunate to even make the playoffs.

The Dodgers do look good on paper however the Cards get it done with great team chemistry and coaching.
I feel the Dodgers will make a run but wont be able to overcome the Cards.

The Dodgers? Aging stars (Kent, Nomar), inconsistent pitching (Penny, Lowe) and now Jason Schmidt will be pitching against Barry Bonds! Nope, the Padres are the team to beat in the NL West.

Huh? Dodgers are clearly not the best team in the NL West. They did nothing to improve the offense, in fact, their offense, already weak to begin with (powerless), got worse when J.D. Drew opted out of his contract to sign with Boston. Furthermore, they spent big money to sign a light-hitting speedster in Juan Pierre to play centerfield. Note that speedsters fast approaching early thirties tend to lose their value very quickly so watch out for that. So they reupped Nomar for one, possibly two years and they have Jeff Kent, but besides that what do they have? I suppose Matt Kemp or James Loney or Ethier could step up but they are unproven youngsters still. They will have to revamp that lineup to introduce a power hitter. Ned Colletti is going to have to dip into his unusually talented arsenal of youngsters in the minor league system to shore up this offense for next year. I guarantee you a deal will be made.
So what does this mean? This means that the San Diego Padres are still the best team in the NL West. They still have great relief pitching with Hoffman, Linebrink and they improved their starting pitching by acquiring Greg Maddux for one year, possibly two. Jake Peavy will surely perform better than last year with Maddux there to coach him. Adrian Gonzalez is due to improve on his numbers. Kouzmanoff is a question mark at third but watch out if they end up signing Marcus Giles at second base and it looks like they will with Brian Giles being in San Diego. I see no reason the Dodgers will win the NL West. San Diego, it is.
