I have a AMD 3800+ x2 socket 939, and a 430w Antec PSU, and a ATI x850 PE PCI-e video card. What would be a good over clocking board. I was interested in DFI's LanParty, but I doubt my PSU is up for the challenge. Can someone recommend something similar, yet less demanding?

get a Msi motherboard if you want to do overclocking, the Msi motherboards have an overclocking feature built right in , that will do it safely, during demand ,then revert back to original Fsb, automatically.

id recommend the following.

go to newegg.com

go to the motherboards section

search the amd family and go through the models, take a look at the pictures, etc. just grasp as much as you can, read reviews, etc and try to get some feedback

then once you have gotten through as much as you can, then i would call newegg up directly. explain your current situation and ask a million questions. some, not all of the reps, have alot of good info that im sure will help get the right board for you. make them work for it.

then go to tigerdirect.com and compare prices. then call the customer service department at tiger direct and do a cross compare with what the newegg reps told you to what the tigerdirect reps are telling you. plus, tiger direct should have some user reviews also.

then once you have a couple of motherboards selected, then go to google and type in the board directly, ex. intel 1234x reviews.

if you do this research properly, i guarantee you you will be happy with your selection.

regarding the purchase, i have had great experience with newegg, plus they are fast as hell. there regular shipping for some reason gets there super fast.

good luck

Try this one:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131004
ASUS of course is the brand to get. This one uses an ATI chipset, I picked it since you have an ATI card. No need for a power supply upgrade just for what you are running.

I pay attention lots of people say "value is not any merchandise " until the bill comes. value is often merchandise. As for boards i like to stick with Intel and Asus. flow to their information superhighway web pages and ask their help line. i be attentive to Intel would be very helpful in case you tell them what you %. -tcw
