It depends on the car. Probably around 30-50 depending on how fast you drive and if you stop and go a lot. If you go at a constant speed usually it will last a little longer. I have a suv with a computer that tells you how many more miles I can go on the tank of gas, but if i stop at a lot of red lights and punch the gas petal sometimes it skips down really fast (haha).
Also, if you run your car with really low fuel a lot then it can make your fuel pump go out which can cost a lot more than a few gallons of gas. Even if you dont fuel all the way up, I would suggest putting in a few extra gallons here and there. Gas is expensive!

According what the car does to the gallon .. when the needle hits the red its a good rule of thumb you have a gallon left .. but, then you would have to drive on a recommended set speed for recording the miles to a gallon .. i think most is calculated at 56 mph .. i wouldn't drive for an hour on empty anyway .. gulpppp

Well, I drive a Dodge Caravan, and my light comes on with about an 8th of a tank left. I can drive 40-45 miles on that amount, depending on my speed. It really depends on what kind of vehicle you drive, how fast you drive, whether it's highway driving or in town. I would guess you could get more than me, because mines a van and yours is a car.

my guess would be once the light comes on you could get 30-35 miles max
don't use the a/c that uses gas
fast accerations will to
here is another thing to remeber if you didn't know
the electric fuel pump is in the gas tank
it is cooled by the fuel around it
if you drive around alot on empty this will
make the fuel pump run a little warmer
and could wear out prematurley

it truly depends on the car. It also depends on how accurate your gas gauge is. I have a car that never shows completely full even when the gas is running on the ground, so I would venture to say when it shows empty, there is still plenty of gas in there.
But don't run your car that low on fuel. It is not good for it and will cost you more in repair bills in the long run.

well that all depends on how many miles per gallon your car gets.
most cars the gas light comes on when you have 1 to 1 1/2 gallons of fuel left. if you look in your owners manual it should tell you when the light comes on how many gallons of fuel you have left

it really depends on the car, but most tanks give you about 50 more miles.
