My boyfriend have 12 fish tanks. Someone told me that some fish could cost over $1,000. Is that true? If so, why? How do I know which fish are expensive?

I sold a Japanese a koi for $975.00 about 12 years ago. and worked in a store that sold an African catfish for $2,000. so fish can be very expensive. the bigger question is why are you questioning your boyfriend? if you think he is full of B.S. and he drives a Hundai then you should flush him!

Yes,
I am sure that you could buy a fish for $1,000.

Usually they tell you when you go to purchase the fish that the type you are buying are expensive.

It would seem like these type of fish are a specialty item and people who are familiar with them are the people who are interested in buying them and know where to find them.

The first place to call would be an aquarium store.

Usually they will be able to refer you to a company that either sells the type of fish you are looking for through a catalogue or internet site.

It seems like you and your boyfriend have quite an interest in fish. Maybe you can teach others about how to properly care for aquariums or start your own aquarium cleaning business. Put those skills to work!!

I can't keep 12 aquariums worth of fish alive.

Seems like you have a talent that could be put to use and make you some money!

Answer:. You won't find a local pet store that sells $1000 fish.

Rare = expensive... and the only way to tell is to ask. Whoever paid so much for a damn fish is going to be more than happy to tell you which ones they are. Either that or it is the one eating all the other ones... no one buys a $1000 fish to feed a $5 bottom feeder.

Salt water fish can be very pricey. They are beautiful and require special care to thrive and cost a lot to transport because of their delicate nature. The only way to know the cost is to ask. Have a happy day.

I think she's talking about pet fish not tuna fish.. :/

tuna is $10,000 because it weighs 1000 pounds.. it's a lot of eat'n

there's 2 or 3 fish I could think of that's in the thousands...
they're expensive because they're beautiful.. simple.

My friend did lots of research in books, mags, and on the net before buying her fish. They are expensive if you are not buying one Beta for one little bowl.
