Australia is:
-part of the South East Asia area.
- the continent of Oceania or
Australiasia, which takes into account NZ and some other islands like Fiji

so in a sense yes it is part of Asia.

hope that helps!

australia is a continent seperated from asia, if you are talking about how are they so close together, it is due to continental drift.

all of the continents started out as a big piece of land, known as Pangea. After several years of ocean tides and curents, they slowly broke apart.

Look at a globe, notice how all of the continents fit in one another. Africa was in between the gulf of mexico and around S.A, south america

It is not a part of Asia, it's like "Australia and Oceania" itself. But recently it has become obvious that Australia have a tight partnership with Asian countries. Nothing strange here 'cause it's essential geographical cooperation.
