Well after slipping twice and breaking the bridge, I'd like to put out the question to the community. This bridge has been seated before, however, I've taken all the strings off and now want to put everything back. Don't leave out even simple things; I'm relatively inexperienced ~_~

These two pages should get you going in the right direction.

Several key issues.

1. Make sure the sound post is standing before you start putting pressure on the bridge!!!!! If the sound post is not standing, or if it falls while you are placing the bridge GET HELP. That sound post actually helps support the violin's belly. Don't tighten the strings without the sound post in place.

2. Place the feet of the bridge between the inside slashes on the F-Holes.

3. NEVER (did you see the capital letters there?) place a single string on the bridge and bring it up to pitch. The object is to try to basically keep even pressure on the belly of the violin across the full width of the bridge. Place a string and tighten it enough to hold the bridge in place, then place the other four strings, tightening them just a little. Then work your way up to the proper pitches in two or three steps. Each step of the way make sure that the bridge is staying in the right position. It may take you three or four steps up with each string. Another thing I do to keep the pressure even is place the outer two strings first. E, then G. Then I place the inner two strings. And until I get into a final tuning mode I keep alternating the tightening. Outers then inners then outers then inners.

4. It sounds silly, but it really is important. Don't forget to use a Number 2 pencil to draw in the grooves on the top of the bridge and in the "nut" at the top of the fingerboard. The graphite really does help lubricate the grooves and provides smoother operation of the strings during tuning!

Hope this gets you moving in the right direction.

If I can help more let me know!

Re putting the sound submit by a specialist is an basic quick pastime. Re putting the bridge is an same. Take it to the save and get an estimate. in case you imagine it truly is too intense, examine some position else. to any extent further keep a watch on the bridge and procedures to straighten it at the same time as it leans. You instructor can educate you the way. some instructors ought to reset your sound submit. ASK The chop up or crack contained in the sound submit is the position the point of the sound submit device is pressed into the submit for resetting. it truly is not a harm.
