Neoconservative is an academic term applied to adherents to the political philosophy of Leo Strauss, a professor at the University of Chicago in the mid-20th century. Followers of his philosophy include Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Richard Perle... oh hell, anyone associated with the Project for a New American Century (www.newamericancentury.org). So It's not a perjorative, it's a factual statement of phiolosophic world view these people self-identify with.
Interestingly enough, Leo Strauss drew his influence from Carl Schmitt, who was Hitler's jurist and provided the legal, political, and philosophical justifications for the Holocaust. So the link between the White House and Nazis is fairly clear, they both share the same fundamental worldview.

Oh, is "Neo-con" a pejorative now? That's funny. I thought it was the proud moniker adopted by those who shaped the policies of the current administration. I guess it's a testament to how lousy those policies actually are that the term "neo-con" now has so many negative associations....

I've got news for you I have a few Republican friends who use the word Neo-con because they don't believe this guy in office right now is anywhere near what a republican is.

I consider myself a liberal, but had an interesting talk with a friend who considered himself extemely right-wing. We both disaproved of gun control, me because I want to be able to defend myself against a corrupt military force turned inward; him because he likes to shoot things. If you're liberal enough, you start finding lots in common with the far right, albeit for different reasons!

uh... you would have "thunk" it...
Iran's president and Hitler complained about liberals all the time?
does that make conservatives that complain about liberals like them?
or is there a fundamental flaw in your total lack of logic?
