No one is obligated to give anyone a gift. To feel that someone should/must give you a gift is crass.

The reason for giving a gift is care! Pure and simple, "CARE"

The person cares and have the feeling that this is what they want to do! The person has no right to expect anything! Too, no one has to accept anything that is insult fo filth!

Should someone care enough to want to give a gift, the receiver's response possibilities are , Thank you and No thank you!

I think humility, appreciation, caring and love is what the core issues here are.

Any gift that we show me that they had put some thought into it and that they knew me. The monetary value wouldn't matter.
It could be a nice pen, photos of my little grandsons in a frame that would go with my decor, new pots and pans, theatre tickets to a performance that I would like or even a homemade booklet with "coupons" for services for me--e.g. clean out the garage by a certain date, go to movie with me, cook dinner for me and clean up afterwards, foot massage, come over and play a game with the family.

I would love to get a chance to do the guest room over as my art studio. so i need a sofa bed, a sewing machine table, cutting table, and lots of storage units on the walls to keep my fabric and paints and canvasas etc, short of that, art supplies, beads, yarn, quilting fabric, and fragrance and bath supplies. love all that smelly bath stuff. well ok i know that he got me a big basket of the bath stuff, i think hes oblivious about the art studio needs.

When asked what I want for the holidays I realize that there is nothing that suits my fancy this year. Maybe a ticket home for the holidays so that I can spend with my family.
