The Jews weren't (and still aren't) very well liked in Europe. So they moved to the USA in large numbers.
Immigration in the US before the 19th century was largely based on faith
Protestants came to America to avoid religious persecution and poverty in Europe. Jews did the same from the signing of the Decleration (George Washington actually made an open gesture of friendship to the Jewish community for their support in the Revolution) up to the early 20th century.
You see in Europe Jews were for 1000 years relegated to live in "ghetto" communities where despite conditions thrived. This was NOT the case when they came to America.

Jews were persecuted in other countries, and, like other groups, came in search of freedom.
The Touro Synagogue was built in Rhode Island in 1763, and the Jews were welcomed to the United States by George Washington:
"May the Children of the Stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other Inhabitants; while every one shall sit under his own vine and fig tree, and there shall be none to make him afraid."
-George Washington, 1790

Like everybody else who came to the New world, they were looking for a new life in a new land, with hopes of living in a land where they wouldn't be persecuted, as they were being in Europe at the time.(this predates Nazi Germany of course, and goes back some 300 years, with the Dutch Jews who I believe called New York, New Jerusalem at the time).

Why did you relatives come?
Of all of the different nationalities here, why are you asking about only one? The inference is extremely vulgar and really does not reflect anything positive about your character or intellect.
