Get outside of yourself. Look at the world from the inside out, not from the outside in.

Reach out to others and think about what you can do to make their lives better (looking from the inside out). Instead of looking at yourself they way you think others see you. (looking from the outside in).

Envision - Imagine your self being calm, self-assured and confident, and not worrying what others think. See yourself as the person you want to be. When you "see" yourself being or doing what you want, you are more likely to make it happen.

Often we fear what we don't know. If I have a situation which I might have problems in the near future, like taking a vacation, I will research the area I'm visiting to gain information about the area.

Information is power.
