I made sure that when I got home from the hospital that all day long whenever my kids were trying to go to sleep I would try to keep them awake as long as possible. Awake time for babies is hard because they can't do anything yet but if baby starts to doze off I would get a bath ready. After the first month I would make the holes in the bottles nipples bigger and just add cereal to the formula. This worked well because during the day I would keep baby awake if I could and only give formula then at night I would add the cereal and make baby very full before bedtime. After two months old I was doing the formula during the day and some baby food before nap times for better naps. At bedtime I would then feed just cereal from bowl and a bottle of formula. Keep in mind that when baby gets food he will drink less formula or milk so only make a few ounces at a time so you don't waste it.

New born babies sleep only 2-3 hours at a strech after which they must naturally awaken for a feeding. By 2-3 months, this sleep pattern will slightly change to a longer sleeping time, depending on the situations in the environment. Due to more disturbances during day, they tend to be awake more time and sleep more in the night. But defenitely it will not be 7 hours until your baby is about 8-9 months.

Another piece of advice: Never try anything that someone tells you. Every baby is different and what suited the baby in the house down the road could not be expected to help your baby. It could turn out to be dangerous. Rather contact the child's doctor, or a consultant...

DO NOT give a child this age cereal. She is not prepared to digest it. She doesn't have the tummy enzymes she needs to digest it yet. AND starting solids too early leads to an increased risk of allergies, diabetes and obesity.

A 3 week old is NOT SUPPOSED TO SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT. Babies this age NEED to wake frequently and feed frequently. (About every 2 hours if breastfed.) Their tummies are only the size of their tiny fist. They are trying to double their birthweight by 6 months and that's a HARD job. Think how much you'd have to eat to double your weight that fast!? You'd be eating around the clock too!

Only babies on TV come home and sleep through the night right away. Be patient. Sleep when your baby sleeps. Don't expect her to sleep through the night for AT LEAST 6 months. If she does before that, you're lucky. If she takes longer than that, she's still normal as night waking is common for the ENTIRE first year.

good idea, you are not sposed to start solids till at least 4 months, even waiting till 6 months is better.
my baby slept through 8 hours a night from about 10 weeks. don't worry, you'll get there! In order to have them sleep through the night they will usually need help learning to fall asleep on their own and not with help (eg. being rocked, feeding etc), or else when they wake they will need you to come in and rock them or feed them so they can fall to sleep again. Some people will also co-sleep so that their baby will sleep through - whatever you are more comfortable with.
In any case, it ca take up to 6 months for them to get the idea, don't worry, you'll be fine! Make sure until then you have naps when they do. good luck!

nicely my 19 month previous nevertheless does not continuously sleep contained in the direction of the evening ! A newborn incredibly would be unable to be forced into ordinary yet.they're nevertheless getting used to the outdoors international and evening and day skill no longer something to them at this early point. After some months whilst their feeding development is universal ,you have the flexibility to time feeds so which you will a minimum of have some hours to the two do house conventional jobs, relax and sleep, even though it does take time and in simple terms take it from there. it incredibly is a gradual technique yet by using around 6 months they are able to be in incredibly a ordinary the place they pass to mattress at a actual looking hour, and would probable sleep by using a super type of the evening.

My daughter slept straight through right from the get go...soon as we brought her home from hospital. NEVER give a newborn cereal that's only asking for trouble. My daughter set her own pace by taking a large (6-10 ounce) bottle in the late evening and then having one upon waking early morning. Her last feeding was usually around 10:00pm and she'd wake up when her dad was getting ready for work about 6:30am. Yeah I got lucky, she was a very easy newborn/baby if only her teens would have been as easy...

it gets better at the 3rd month, u have to stop giving her milk (breasftfeeding or formula) during the night or for 6 hours. i started at first by 3 hours then 4 then 5 then 6.she'll cry at first but then she'll get used to it. i know it's a hard job at the beginning but be strong, it gets better with time, just be patient and remember the 1st 3 months r the hardest. goodluck!

Every child is different-- even siblings from the same parents. Things will probably start getting better around 6 months, and then again at a year, in my experience.

a baby that young should only have breastmilk or formula. you are right not to repeat that.
it all depends on the baby. it is normal for them to want to eat several times throughout the night. it will help them grow at a healthy rate. really, it is strange for a baby to sleep a long time at this age.
my first son slept that long when he was about 10 months old.
my second son slept that long at about 2 months old.
very different babies!
