So, I have a blog where I ranted and raved about a company, making jokes about how I should burn down the building, or cut down important wires. It was clear they were jokes, but still very inappropriate. I also made some comments about me hating certain people specifically in the company, but once again, all in a joking manner. The company found the journal, and I was fired, but now they are considering taking legal action. I deleted the journal entries, and I apologized, but they are still considering. If this ends up in a law suit, I would not try to deny anything, since I know it was stupid of me to say in the first place, but I was wondering what's the worst I could possibly expect.

You could be tried under domestic terrorism charges, depending on exactly what you said. You could be charged also on making threats of muder or inciting murder. It could be bad. Your best tactic is to fall on your sword and be deeply penitant before the court. Ask for mercy and leniency. Accept any restraining orders without a fight.

To the point, probably the rest of your life in a "hospital" getting meds every four hours and watching day-time TV in a bathrobe.

It is NORMAL to get PISSED when you are treated poorly but it happens ALL the time so get over it.

If adult beverages were involved while you were making journal posts, figure it out.

Getting fired HAPPENS and you move on. Learn from the experience and GROW from it.

The sensitivity is just SO HIGH NOW it is just a BAD choice of words (please NOTE that NONE of those words are here).

I might suggest that you post a retraction and say that you were surprised with the turn of events and oover reacted with your journal.

Learn from your EMOTIONS and move on with the new knowledge.

When you are sitting in prison with Kool-aid colored cheeks wearing a sheet remember your a funny man......a clown. Whatever you get you deserve 10 times that amount.

You put yourself in the national nut case data base. Don't expect any great job offers in the future. And get to any airports an hour early whenever you plan to fly anywhere, for added screening.

I would look up the laws in your particular state (there is usually a database) and see what you might be charged with. or if you know what they are planning on trying to charge you with..
BTW i think that really sucks.. you should be able to say whatever you want in your journal.. freedom of speech and all that.

I doubt they are looking at a lawsuit but rather criminal charges.
Uttering a threat (which can be done on the internet) is illegal.
In my state it is punishable with up to 15 years.
