Es verdad, mi amigo. Both parties are replete with corruption and cronyism, and are much too influenced by outside interests. The Repbubicans are in the pockets of the big corporations and the insurance companies, and the Dems are in the pockets of the trial lawyers. Until this ends, nothing progressive is going to happen. We must crack down harder on campaign financing; there should be an agreed-upon, set spending limit for both parties. Otheerwise, we will never again have a President who rose from the middle, or even lower class, like many of our finest earlier leaders did.

The ACLU is controlled by the Democraps not the other way around. So the ACLU does as ordered. There is not even a pretense any more of being independent. I and any other member who did not toe the line and be a good Democrap were run off by the ACLU's anti-Christian witch hunt and it's clear service to the Democratic party.
As for the Big biz. They control both parties. The Repugnicans are better known for ties to big biz but both parties receive billions each year in open bribes/campaign contributions and much more under the table. So big Biz is not just a Repugnican issue. Many companies donate to both cantidates in races that are important to them to make sure whoever wins is in their pocket for example.
The Christian Right is a mixed bag. The extremes which often get the most press play right into the ACLU's boogey man hysteria. The Swagarts and Bakers make it easy for the ACLU to attack Christianity. The bulk of the Christian Right is more moderate and some of them are even registered Democrats.
What is hurting both parties is corruption. It is open and blatant. 15 years a go a freshwoman got up and described on national TV how some Japanese lobbiest has asked her who to bribe to get a bill passed. Nobody cared. No outrage, no investigation. Nothing. Clinton and Gore were repeatedly caught in shadowy or openly illegal actions. Clinton was as owned by the Chinese as any human can be owned by another group. Bush might as well have a tag attached to his ear saying owned by the oil companies. It would not take a jr high school journalist two weeks to uncover illegal activities by the Bush administration. The Clintons were busted red handed committing felonies. No real charges were brought against them for things such as using the FBI for personal vendettas, tampering with evidence, and the perjury Bill Clinton committed during the Lewinsky scandal.
None of this is new of course. Bush sr and Reagon had Contragate and there is good evidence that arms for US allies were funded by drugs smuggled into the US by American Government officials or at the behest of American Government officials. Carter had the cabinet of the week. Every week they'd arrest another one of Carter's cronies on serious charges and he'd replace that one with a future arrestee. Nixon was busted cold with Watergate. LBJ's enemies did things like commit suicide by shooting themselves several times in the back with a .22 rifle. JFK's father was tied in close with the Mob and the Mob using voter fraud was crucial to JFK's election. The list goes on and on.
Murfa (sp) avoided conviction for corruption charges only because he said "I won't take your money yet" rather than taking it right away. Yet he holds key spots in the Democratic party. Both parties closed ranks and tried to protect the Congressman who had a fridge full of money. Why'd they do that? Simple they have their own skeletons and if the FBI nosed around much the entire House and Senate would be arrested. I doubt there is a single one from either party which hasn't committed serious crimes while in office. If they haven't yet they will soon enough.
So everything else is purely decoration. Doesn't matter who helps or hurts a party. When you elect somebody from either the Repugnicans or Democraps you've elected somebody who has one purpose and one purpose only. That is to gain glory and wealth for themselves. Everything else is to con you into not electing somebody who cares about the Nation and wants to do something good for the country.

What hurts the Republicans is the pandering to liberals.
The Christian Right are the morality of Americans.
I do agree that Republicans pandering to big business is a problem. Any Republican that panders to a group is wrong.
Republicans lost the election because they did not do what got them elected in 1994. They spent too much, pork spending was out of control, and government grew.
The ACLU is a destroyer of the Democrats.

Republican party, has the libertian wing, populist wing, social consevative wing, that how the US house looked. Delay had a good game going letting the Republcians in OHIO play protectionist long as they voted to ban gay Marraige, or support milliltary pork for Delay, and Bush. I belive both parties are big tent parties because its the local voters that tell these people how to vote on issuse at times than does president Bush. Is a Republican or Democrat gonna vote against something 80% of the voters in the district oppose, NO, NO they commit poltical suiciude. Just most republicans outside the south just give lip service to the Evangelical cons. Otherwiese big business own both and always had.

The Reps always been the party of big business, The Christian Right is a place they can sucker in more votes rom. As Kuo's book shows, they white house laughs at those guys behind their backs.
The ACLU defended Ollie North, not exactly a liberal.
If any of you were arrested unconstitutionally, the ACLU would help you.

I don't believe morality has any place in government. Government is the BUSINESS of running the country. There must be laws to make sure social order is maintained , but one's morality is a personal choice. How many tax dollars have been wasted worrying about who marries whom? That should not be a government issue. More tax dollars went to government hearings on steroid use in baseball. Again, not a government issue. Both sides are corrupt, both sides have their moral soapboxes from which they issue their diatribes. Personally, I tend to vote republican based solely on fiscal policy. However, I've make no claims as to it's superiority as a party.

I don't agree that "the Christian Right and Big Business are hurting the Republican Party."
I don't know why you are trying to exclude other people. Do you think you have some exclusive right to dictate who can vote?
This is a free country, and conservatives especially believe in the rights of people to vote their consciences.

If you "know" the answer, why ask the question? I don't "know" that the Christian right is hurting the party. I'm a Republican & not Christian. I welcome them with open arms. It's the Paleocons who are the problem.
