I have accidentally left my glass kiln on High for over 6 HOURS!
Was well over 2000F...anyway..very stupid..blah, blah, blah. ( thought the swith was off..instead went to high...) was a great batch too.

Thankfully I didn't burn the house down. But everything practically vaporized.... what little glass was left cascaded over the shelf & ate thru the volcanic bricks. Kiln company fixer-guy is supposed to call tomorrow.

Has this happened to anyone else and were you able to fix the kiln or have to get a new one??
Thanks

things happen if you did not burn out your electrical coils then you would be just fine I have a high fire paragon that was my moms and I have used it and abused it for years and it still keeps working. You should however get a shutoff timer that you sit and also another timer that reminds you to check it out. Busy people often just forget about things and it can indeed be bad news. when the bricks are replaced and you have time to really check it out thru the peephole at all stages of the firing chart how fast it goes up how long it stays for a heat soak and how long it takes to loose heat. Keep that chart and always refer to it as a norn and adjust it according to future firings which you should always do anyway to get a mean on firing what it is that you are working with.

Umm no.. Are you taking any heavy meds? I would suggest that you inform all of the neighbors...so they can keep an eye on you.
