My mom had me when she was 38 ROCK ON (She turned 50 last weekend)! but its also different for every person. The man has no risks but at i think 40 the women does but i mean its to much of a risk but there is a chance that the baby could have defects. But anyways I'm just fine (Straight A's) yippee.

A man's age does not cause any genetic degradation of his sperm. Men father healthy children well into their eighties and beyond, although it is rare simply because of the fact that except for golddiggers most young women marry young men. Good to see another nurse on this question - I'm an LPN. As to other assertations that there is DNA damage to the genetic code of sperm produced by older men, there is no medical evidence to back that up, and anyone claiming that had better be able to list what medical journal it came from.

There has not been enough analysis of statistics in this area to be so positive in the replies.
Yes, a man produces new sperm every time, but each time is a copy of the original blueprint so they can degenerate over the years.
On the other hand, every time a woman produces an egg it is a one off original that had been in her body since birth. Perhaps the last few to emerge were slower to do so because they were slightly defective, who knows?
I had my first child 6 weeks before my 41st birthday and went on to have another two after that. All three are happy, healthy, well-adjusted children

Well, women carry the baby of course, and fertility is usually more of an issue with women, but older sperm is not good either. Men in their 40s, especially 45+ have DNA damage in their sperm. If they have a baby with an older women the risks are quite high. I think they are a bit lowered if the woman is younger though.

there is no risk for the man, because he's not the one actually having the baby. he's just contributing the sperm, and sperm don't really age over the man's lifetime because they're constantly being made. for women, however, if they have a baby after they're 40 years old, there is an increased chance that the baby will have genetic defects.

When a woman is born she already has her lifetime of eggs.
So, if she was to get pregnant at 20, her egg would be 20 years old, if 34 then 34 years old.
A man however, constantly produces sperm.
So you could say that the man's supply of sperm is fresh.
Hope this helps.

Your'e right, I'm a nurse. There is no age limit for a man to produce a baby. Just make sure you are taking good care of yourself, like eating right. Take care and I hope this answers your question.

i don't think there is a limit for men. i have heard of gold diggers who were in their twenties and got pregnant by men in their seventies or eighties, i've read it in the paper before. my father was 6 sixty when i was born and i am healthy as can be with children of my own, if that means anything....

I think it is one hundred and something, but we'll never know. They keep dying before they come.
