At Walmart.com they have an Everex and an Acer for a really low price..Im not for sure if they are really good but here are some specs on them-They have the Everex Step-note with a 15. 4 Widescreen Display..It says it lets you create Dvd's and Cd's... Walmart also has an Acer Aspire 1.8 GHZ Mobile AMD Sephron 3400+ Processor And a 15 Inch Full Screen-The price on the Acer is 528$.................The Price on the Everex is 498$ ........My personal favorite laptop is a Toshiba.. They have a couple Toshibas there...Just check out www.walmart.com and then search up laptops..You could also try going to Target.com or going to a brands website...Like www.Toshiba.com or you know the makers website..You could check out a Compaq,Dell, Toshiba, Everex, Acer, Emachines and Apple... Apples are very well EXPENSIVE!Yet they are pretty nice yet complicated..Well, I hope I helped you out.

Totally dependent on what you want to do.

Since you seem interested in inexpensive and then contradict with best, you pose a conundrum. Best - go for a top of the line gaming laptop from one of the obscure vendors (I believe Alienware got bought out... made great stuff...)... but those are extremely expensive.

Give detail as to what you want. And you will probably get a better answer - games, word processing, web browsing (any will do in this case)...

What would you like to choose between?

A dell. I would also check out the pawn shops, but it's best to buy new. You can also make a payment plan. Good Luck

I have used a variety and acctualy they are about the same. but where the difference comes in is the support. so in that case gateway, dell or name brands are good. gateway has been good to me. the off brand I purchased at walmart was just as functional but the support was not.
