no, he should be dropped, esp. because aussies have an excellent replacement in phil jacques. he is poor against good bowling, a "flat-track bully" as they say. AND IM A QUEENSLANDER.

matty hayden is a great basmen. I think its really sad tht he's in such a form tht people r doubting his batting technique. I think by far he's the best aussie opener i have ever seen. On his day he is capable of butchering the bowling side. When aussies came to india, he took on every bowler including the two gr8 spinners! i think its the first time ever tht he's looking out of time n i feel tht his team mates n cricket australia shud be kind enuff to him n give him a few more chances to prove his mettle.
He plays an significant role if australian strategy if they wanna conquer in the windies in 2007. Moreover if u wish to remove matty hayden from the squad then u must have someone who's better than him. The only option tht cmes to ma mind is simon katich. No offense to katich but he's a make shift opener nd is not as successful as matty in terms of record too. & i dont think tht aussies r thinking in the lines of promoting shane watson or the gr8 mike hussy to do the opening job. Therefore there can't be anyone better than matty for the OZ in both forms of the game.

Some of you previous answerers ought to look at the scoreboard at the end of today's play in the ashes test at the wacca.MATT HAYDEN is NOT OUT 57.Add to this 2 excellent catches at crucial time and he has PROVEN he should be in the side.

Matty Hayden is a great opener and can fire at any time. With his experience and power he could play for a couple more years at least, and continue to make decent scores.

He is a good player and capable of demoralising any bowling attack in the world when he is in form. Hence Australia can ill afford to drop him at this stage especially when world cup is few months away.

well i guess theres a fine line between struggling for runs and wroking hard for them, either way it takes ages to get them. but i think he DESERVES to be on hte team by what he has done for us in the past, but also it'd be good to get phill jaques in there

He performs well when the team is under pressure. Should not be dropped.
