I work in a private school (no union), and for a year now I students haeve reported that a particular teacher makes sexual comments in class. In addition, I have acussed him of sexually harrassing me.

I have spoken to the administration, but nothing is being done on behalf of the school. How long does it take for actual results in case like this? Also, if nothing is done, should I report this then to the police?

The school's next step would be to investigate the matter further. They cannot just assume he's actually harassing anyone until they've interviewed him. Then, the school might observe his behavior while on the job. Finally, they will need to decide what kind of action to take. If they feel his behavior is severe enough, he should be terminated or given the option to resign. Otherwise, they may let him continue his position, and be on the lookout for anymore improper behavior. Not all sexual harassment cases end in a termination. Keep that in mind.

hmmmm, that's crazy that the admin has done nothing if the children are complaining about it. I guess you wouldn't have an HR or EEO commity there. Make sure you document everything and take it to a higher authority, even if that might be the police... or, maybe you should call them and ask for advice from them. Ha, even an anonymous call to the right tv news station would work... I'm sure he wouldn't be around very much longer after that.

Yes, someone should already have reported this to the police long ago. Especially if you are teaching minors, this situation is absolutely freaking ridiculous. I encourage you to be the responsible party in this situation.

It will really help if you documented everything he has said to the kids into a book with dates, times and exact quotations. Witness names will be helpful too.
Otherwise when the allegations are investigated, it will be hearsay or anecdotal and you are forced to start documenting after the investigation.. Your memory will be faulty when time has gone by.
