How do I find the slope of these few problems?

* y = 2/5 x - 8
* 4x + 2y = -6
* x = -7
* x + 1/2 y = 5
* y = x + 8
* y = 15

I've learned how to do them....but I need a little help jogging my memory. help?

y=2/5x -8
Easy. Y=mx+b
**m=2/5

4x+2y=-6
2y= -4x-6
y= (-4/2)x + (-6/2)
y= -2x - 3
**m= -2

x= -7
**m=undefined

x+1/2y=5
1/2y = -1x +5
y= (-1*2)x + (5*2)
y= -2x + 10
**m= -2

y=x+8
y = 1x + 8
**m=1

y=15
**m=0

in the form y=mx+b, m stands for the slope. so in the equation y=2/5x-8, 2/5 would be the slope.

in standard form (Ax+By=C) slope= -A/B. so the slope of the equation 4x+2y=-6 would be -4/2 which reduces to -2.

if the equation is x=a #, the slope is undefined.

the equation x+1/2y=5 is also in standard form. so, the slope equals -1/(1/2) which equals 2.

in the equation y=x+8, m (the slope) equals 1.

finally, if the equation is y= a #, the slope is 0

slope is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) the 1,2 and two are just labels (you would read that y one minus y two. That just shows that you are working with two ys and two x's from different coordinate sets.
like (9,7) and (8,3). doesn't matter which y you call 1 or 2 just make sure to call the x from that set by the same number!

the slope-intercept form of a line is y=mx+b (m=slope).

So, if the equation looks like that (or if you can rearrange it to look like that, which you will have to do on one of those problems) then m is your slope.

If you have y=7 then that means no matter what x is y is always 7...so y2-y1 would have to be 0 so it would be 0/(x2-x1). 0 divided by anything is still zero. That means you would have a slope of zero.

If you have x=7 then that means no matter what y is x is always 7...so x2-x1 would have to be 0 so it would be (y2-y1)/0. Anything divided by 0 doesn't work, so that means you have no slope. So you would just write "no slope" as the slope.

heres the slope form equation
y=mx+b

m is your slope basically wat is next to you x variable is you slope
n if theres no x your slope is zero
oh yea...try putting the equation in the formula i gave u
