mor or less still theory, but some would say it is factual, because of the current warming trends, but the truth is that the earth goes through long cycles that cause slow gradual warming then cooling over hundreds of years. this may just be the warming part of the cycle.

Whether or not Global Warming can actually be proven shouldn't matter. It's the idea that's important. One way or another our planet is degrading more and more rapidly. If our society does not start to make some seriously important decisions about the way we abuse this planet, I'm afraid our world will fall apart. Scientifically it does make sense. In Canada we usually see a 1 degree RAISE in temperature every year. This results in 10 percent LESS rain every year. If the temperature this far North is slowly (but always) rising then it would make sense that it's happening all over the world. The size of the polar ice caps have dramatically dropped in size in the past century and the water levels there are constantly rising. Meanwhile down south ponds and lakes are shrinking and so are the forests and wildlife that surround them. If people don't start taking problems like these seriously, I'm afraid we're all inevitably doomed. I know it's not fair to have to pay for the mistakes of our forefathers, but it's our responsibility to ensure that future generations even have a planet to live on. (Another side effect of global warming by the way is the loss of marine life, i.e. a good chunk of the food supply in our world) I apologize if I've rambled on about this. I've become increasingly worried about these issues over the years. Either way, if you really consider the question your asking the answer seems quite obvious. Of course the government will never admit how bad it really is until it's too late...

Well, first off, Science can't prove anything. However Global Warming is at the moment considered a hypothesis. As it is a relatively new idea, there has not been enough time to test it to become a theory and it takes years and years to become a "Law".
There is a lot of evidence that might possibly point towards Global Warming but it depends on how biased you are.
This years hurricane season (Or lack of one) is a huge amount of proof against it because if Global Warming is happening and is to blame for the hurricanes last year, it would naturally get worse this year.

CO2 is 30% higher than it has been for 650,000 years. Methane is 130% greater. These are two of the main pollutants humans put into the atmosphere in excess, and they are two of the primary greenhouse gases.
Look at the 'hockeystick', which shows a dramatic warming since 1950 after a fairly stable climate for 1000 years. In fact, the 10 hottest years in recorded history have all happened since 1990, with 2005 being the hottest.
(see links below)
How's that for proof of man's fault in this? There is ample proof, any real scientist will tell you that.
There has NEVER been an article doubting man's influence on global warming published in a peer-reviewed journal. A recent study of almost 1000 proved that.
Yes, the earth naturally heats and cools, but the rate and amount we are warming now is unprecedented in the recent geologic past. We are doing this, and we must stop it. This is not some political statement or rhetoric. This is science trying to educate a crass, ignorant public of the damage they are doing. The magnitude of temperature increase ALREADY is about 10x that of the 'little ice age' of the middle ages, and rate and amount are only going up.
Just to be clear, glacial and interglacial cycles are mainly controlled by astronomical fluctuations, but we have a detailed record of the last 7 cycles, and what the climate and CO2 is doing now is way different and extreme. The rate of increase is much higher than in the past AND the value itself is much higher.

Your question can be answer in a 1000 pages thick thesis.
In short, EAGLEFLYER answered part of it right. QFL 24-7 presented you with the data.
First of all, if I am not wrong the air above us is classified or layered into few layers. On this upper most layer where pressure is high, the molecule of Oxygen 2 is pressurized to Oxygen 3, which is commonly known as OZONE. Notice that light in science has a certain range of frequency its travels in. Of which Ultra Violet (UV) is traveling at a higher frequency than normal light. SO, light does not turn into UV overnight. When the radiation heat from the SUN travel in the space to reach earth. Ultra Violet is one of them.
Apparently, OZONE has been the filter for earthlings ever since the last ICE AGE*. The pollutant as mention by QFL 24-7 BREAKS the ozone layer to form other agents bit by bit thus leaving a big hole. (Without ozone layer) When UV travel to earth it managed to penetrate through the atmosphere to reach to the surface of earth. On the surface of the earth, Partial of the UV is reflected back to the atmosphere. Up and down and up and down again the UV travels. THIS is what the global warming is about.
New theories written by few professors indicated the same conclusion is that all the dust, oxygen nitrogen and other gases are or can form a pyramid of stability. When this pyramid of stability is broken we will enter another ICE AGE*. Till today scientist are still looking for this ratio.

Global Warming is very true. If you want to know more former vice president Al Gore has a movie out called "An Inconvenient Truth". I belong to NWF and NRDC which it trying to curb the effects of global warming and even getting the polar bear listed as an endangered species because the ice they depend on is disappearing rapidly.
The worst part is that it could have a snowball effect and once it reaches a certain point there will be no stopping it.
Go to the link...It has alot of useful information!

It is real. Just look at the temperatures all over the U.S. in the middle of December. Oil and power companies have been dumping their waste into our natural waters for years and people are surprised this is affecting anything! Global warming is obvious. Some electric companies are working to try to filter out some of the carbon dioxide released into our atmosphere, but more are building even more plants in the old method with crushed coal which releases a disgusting amount of toxins in the air. It is way past time for the average consumer to get educated on what major corporations are doing to our environment!

Our earth has ice caps at the north and south poles. The ice caps reflect some of the sun's energy back into space, keeping the earth at a comfortable temperature. The ice caps are melting at an alarming rate. That means that the earth will eventually reflect less of the sun's energy and the earth will heat up. Nobody knows how to reverse the process. The ice caps are melting because of pollution. In the last few years an area bigger than the size of Texas has melted from the Antarctic ice shelf. Draw your own conclusions.

Its a fact! Studied it for a whole semester. But how much is it as a result of humans is debatable. But humans are definitly helping GW to some extent. Also you cant rule out the possibilty of the suns intensity increasing. But GW is for sure taking place.

I don't know either, but I will tell you this, I'm from NY and today it was almost 60 degrees. That is strange weather for the middle of december. People were walking around with no jackets, thats not normal for NY. Does it have anything to do with global warming? I don't know.
