Battery may not have had enough power to crank the starter. When you turn the key, all of the electronics in the car are not powered until the key is returned into default position.

Your automobile will run with a physically powerful alternator yet a bad battery. First verify the battery terminals are tight and sparkling. Get it working, by making use of in spite of works. Now it relatively is significant- verify the voltage of the battery, whilst the engine is working. try this by making use of connecting a voltmeter to the battery POSTS (the lead bits). The voltage must be around 13.5- 14 volts. If there is decrease than this, verify the voltage on the battery cable terminals. If nonetheless low, you maximum in all probability have a bad alternator, and you need to have a battery warning lamp on the panel besides, lit up. If voltages are as they must be, run the automobile for no less than quarter-hour., then close off and attempt restarting. If it won't initiate, maximum in all probability the battery is undesirable.

It takes more power to start it than your stereo. Check out the battery. Next alternator. I only say that next because the starter is a pain to work on, but that needs to be done too.
Sorry man. No fun. Hopefully it will just be a loose wire on the battery or one of the field replaceable units mentioned above.

I had the same thing happen to me and it turned out to be a short in my car's security system. I had to open the door and then start the car while the door was open.

Last time that happened to me, all I had to do was turn the wheel so that the car would turn on :) But I don't know anything about cars!
