My dream last night had my friend step out of the shadows, with cuts on his face, underneath his eyes running down his cheeks. It looked like he was crying tears of blood. What could this mean? Today, I saw pictures of children with the same cuts on their faces. What is this symbolic of? What is my subconsious trying to tell me?

It could mean you have some remorse about how you have treated him. Or that you should have some.
It could be that you have some idea that someone is hurting him.
It could mean that you have noticed he is depressed and maybe thinking of hurting himself.
If he is in love with you it could signify that you might think he is "holding a torch" for you; that he would prefer to suffer quietly than to approach you about his feelings.
If you are in love with him it could mean you are afraid you will hurt him.
You could be feeling guilty that you had an erotic thought about his girlfriend, or sister, or mother.
There are lots of things it could mean. It would depend on your situation. To find out you would need to explore how you feel about him, see if he represents some goal or restriction, see if you are feeling something not related to him but that you have projected on to him like a painter with a canvas. You basically have to explore your deep feelings to interpret difficult-to-understand dreams.
I'd be interested in you telling us if you discovered anything about what you think it means.

I dont know about this.
I will take a guess and say that maybe your subconsious is trying to tell you that you are sacrificing too much for something.
