Why do people who smoke hold their ciggarettes out the window while they drive?

Why is it that people that don't smoke want to control those that do? Who put you in charge of others lives. Let me guess, you got in someone's car and they started smoking. If you were that worried about it you could have just gotten out. This can not be about pollution because the car pollutes more in 1 minute than smoking a whole pack will do. Thanks to people that go on the ban wagon about 3 bars and 2 restaurants by me have gone out of business. Some people that don't drink may think that's good but what about all the people that closing those places hurt? The bartenders, waitresses, cook, busboys, delivery people. Also the people that supplied them delivery drivers, print shops the list goes on. All these people have families. Of course you don't care about the owners of the places, they invested their lives into a business that is hard to make a profit from. Some had taken years to go from getting further into debt to starting to make a profit. There was one new job over it though, the liquor store had to hire one more person but only for the weekends. I know, we should ban anything that is not popular. If you don't fit into the mold then you will be arrested fined and imprisoned. Here is the new list of things we should make illegal in addition to smoking. being gay getting old being too skinny being too fat being too short being too tall being the wrong religion being the wrong color Wait this is sounding familiar like they did this in the past. Hmmmm

I smoke but I do this because smoke builds up in the car and burns my eyes. It stinks;too. I'm trying to quit. I won't hold it out if there's a motorcycle behind me.

To keep the smoke out of your face!! A car is a pretty small area and the smoke doesn't have anywhere to go!!

Helps keep the ashes out of the car, and some of the smell... but still... smoking in the car at all kinda negates that.

I hold my cigarette out the window ,so to let every one else see that i have a smoke in my hand .And that makes every other smoker light one up...Free advertising so to speak...I'm a tobacco grower..

Smoke stains everything. They already stink, know they stink, their house stinks, their clothes stink, and they don't want their car to stink. Too bad they are litering. That's a fine if they get caught.
