both. a classic example of karma: when you eat fatty foods while you're young, you get a heart attack by the time you're old.
for fate: fate is something we ought not to question. events just happen, whether they have a reason for happening or not, we cannot say. me chancing upon this question could be the work of fate.
it's funny how some people say "everything that happens is god's will" and at the same time say "you make your own destiny." those two things don't go together... which is why they defend their answer by saying "god gave man free will"

Believe it or not, the two are closely related. Fate states that everything happens for a reason, and that God will hold everyone accountable in the end. Karma is more like everyone will get what's coming to them for the wrongs they have done in our earth life, instead of the afterlife.

Hmm. I'm not sure you know the true meaning of karma and I'm not sure I know the true meaning of fate.
I can't not believe in karma coz I experience it every day. Those who think things don't happen for a reason should turn off the auto pilot and look around with their own eyes.
I can't really say anything about fate coz I'm not familiar with it.

what about it?
do I believe in them?
No, I think that while there may be some coincidences, there is not some other-worldly force at work.
there are plenty of times when the man beats his wife and never gets punished for it...

Nothing is "coincidence"...God controls some of what happens to us when we pray. We captain "our ship" also. Make it happen...and it usuaklly will!
