What are you trying to power up?

You can buy USB cables that plug into some cell phones or cameras to charge them up.

The PS2 & Parallel versions are hard to find!

Is that close to your answer?

The max power from a USB port is approx 5 volts.

PS2 ports may have up to 6 volts, as some devices do require them for power, such as drawing tablets.

parallel ports and serial ports may be just fraction of a volt. Enough to power a few leds as seen on keyboards.

You may just want to take an old power supply out of a spare computer so you don't destroy your good one playing around.

If you are trying to use the spare power supply as 12 volts to test car radios or gps in the house you can buy a lighter adapter at a electronic store and wire it up to the 12 volt wires that would normally goto a hard drive.

Desktop computer USB ports can power low draw devices but if you try to power too many or the wrong device or are using a laptop you can cause the power supply to shutdown. It all depends on the computer type and size of the power supply.

You can power/charge some of your lower power device. For example, handphone, wireless adapter, MP3 player, Skyphone, PSP and many others.
