I didn't think you could add to a CD-R disc? I had tested 1 file and it copied to the cd. I then wrote a new document and tried to copy to the cd and it copied. I thought once you used the cd you couldn't add to it?

I save info to Word on a weekly basis. Should I get CD R or CD RW discs?

I guess I'm confused then on why I'm able to add files to a CD-R if it can only be written once?

It's a Memorex MUSIC CD-R (NOT Rw, I double checked).

I checked the drive contents under My Computer and it has 3 files on the cd!

CD-Rs can only be written on once. CD-RWs can be written onto multiple times (I think its about 200x per disk before you have to use another one).

Yes in fact you can add on to them, you just can't erase something already written to them. For example, you right a 1MB file to a CD-R. You can't ever erase it, but you still have 699 MB of empty space left, and you can write to that. If you are just using it to save Word files, then you could probably get by on 1 CD for a few years, Word files are very small. But remember, each time you change a document, you will have to save it as a new file, since like I said you can't erase a file, or save over it.

Yes you can. There is an option that lets you leave the disk "writable" But Nero and Roxio have this option. Basically you do not Finalize the disk so you keep writing to it until it is full. I do it all the time. To be more specific I would need to know which software you are using. And 1 more thing I do believe you have to do all the writing on the same pc until the disc is finalized

Mike is right on this one... I am surprised to hear that you added more files to a CD-R... are you sure it wasn't CD-RW? The cd has to be rewriteable..

I think you should get CD-RW discs if you are adding/changing information on it weekly.. They'll probably work best, seeing as how CD-R's are only one-time use cd's. :)
