85.00 for diagnostics test, they wont do anything before that test and it has to be done by ford mechanic.
90.00/100.00 an hour is usual rate anywhere.
they will get you in fast and out as fast as they can.
diagnostic helps them get to the problem faster.
but to give you some advice.
if you intend to keep the vehicle for at least a year.
go to autozone or advance auto parts.
get a diagnostic tester for that make and model.
get the book that tells you what the numbers mean on
the diagnostic tester. about 120.00 for both unless you
shop around for prices. also if you have someone who can work on vehicles that you trust. pick up haynes break down book
for your vehicle.
with a ford, from my experience, if its a 90 to now newer ford
the engine light comes on if you are using 87 gas instead of
93. that would be an oxygen sensor which costs 85.00 a piece/ plus labor.
and that some vehicles have 4 to 8 of them.
the remedy for that, is disconnect battery, that resets the computer, start putting 93 gas in the vehicle once a month.
hope this helps

They were $60 an hour and have surely gone up some more. Go and talk money first, and then decide, depending on what year your car is , and how much needs to be done. You may be better off at a small repair shop, why not get 3 estimates first and then decide?

They could charge anywhere from $35 per hour to $100 per hour depending on the shop. Bare in mind, few mechanics get paid over $20 per hour, so think about whose getting screwed before claiming to be the victim.

Best bet is to phone the dealer or take the car and ask for a written estimate before the car is even looked at. by that I mean there will be a diagnosis charge, but after that you'll still need a written estimate for the repairs.

They will charge you one hour for diagnostic, and should charge you anywhere from seventy to ninety dollars an hour.
Some dealerships may deduct the diagnostic fee depending on the repair they end up doing.
They will also charge you an environmental fee of about five percent.

Hourly rate depends entirely on where you live. In the major metropolitan area in which I reside the hourly labor rate averages between $90-100/hour. Head far enough out into farm country though and it drops into the $60-70/hour range.

Nope. Getting the car inspected was your choice and you assume that expense. Look at it this way. You paid $130 to save yourself several thousands of dollars is wasted money since you won't be buying that POS Nissan.

they should only charge $35 to diagnose the problem and if you have them fix it they will put that $35 towards the cost of fixing it...
