It just seems to me that it wouldn't be as bad as some women make it out to be. They're shoes. They've been around so long but surely something that painful wouldn't stick around that long. Once again, they just seem like a variation of a shoe or flip flop/sandal.

It depends. If someone gets quality shoes that fit, they tend not to be as painful. However, many people get shoes that aren't their size (high heeled or not). When they do that, pain tends to follow. Either way though, they are painful after awhile. They don't offer any support and hold your foot at an unnatural position for a long time.

But I still love them.

Do you know for how long foot binding existed in China? A LONG time.. high heels are so mild compared to that, but it really depends a lot on the woman and what kind of heels she's wearing. "kitten heels" or really small heels are almost like wearing flat shoes, wedges are not that bad to walk in, and some types of shoes are more supportive then others. The strappy really high pointy stilettos are the most painful. It doesn't hurt when you put them on, but all shoes (even sneakers) make your feet hurt if you're walking/standing for hours and hours. It's just that you're tired, and high heels make you tired and worn out even faster.

It's a pain women bear so they can look good! haha.

Well try wearing a flip flop with a 5 inch heel and a very high curve that squeezes your toes together and makes you wobble as you walk. That would be a high heel my dear, and just wear some around the house for a day (or outside for others amusement) and then you will understand why us women complain about high heels!!! :)

they are painful. i am a woman and don't wear heels at all.

the foot was not made to stand the way heels place them. try standing on the ball of your big toe all night. extremely uncomfortable. some women get used to it, some don't. and some just deal with it, because they are vain.

just because they're still around doesn't mean they aren't painful. it hasn't phased out because women enjoy being taller.

the way the heel is positioned makes the leg longer and leaner, and sticks out a woman's butt differently than when she is walking flat-footed. when walking in heels, she must also carry herself differently and more gracefully, because her legs and walking are distorted by the shoe.

so no, it is not a variation of the sandal or flip/flop because of the shape. and yes, they really are that painful.

Yes they are painful especially the higher the more painful to walk in them. Right ladies i know that for a fact. Some low heels are ok for some places but still on occasion the highheel looks even better. But once they come off your little tootsies feel like walking barefoot in the sand.

Anything that elevates your precious feet to heights of the un-imaginable is painful. You become a permanent ballet dancer for a day, in relevai position. The reason these suckers have stuck around for so long is because it elongates the legs, and makes the bum appear tighter...which is an attractive trait to have. A.k.a- it attracts men. Therefore, us women, will continue to be idiots..and slowly allow our backs to break...day after day after day.

In a couple of years, when we are propped in a hunchback position, we will say...god damnit.

I like wearing high heel's, some are quiet uncomfortable, hurts the muscles in your legs, or gives you sores on your heel or toes, but I feel great in heels, except when they are too tight. But, what is funny is I'm really tall in high heels, my regular height is 6'1, so I'm 6'2 in heels.

it depends on how high they are. the ones that i wear aren't painful. annd it also depends on where you get them because I have a pair of shoes the have built in padding and dr.sholes makes gel insoles for heels

Yes, they cause the ball of the feet to hurt bad and won't go off. You need a steroid injection to stop the pain. The injection is painful!!!!!!!!!

Why not wear a pair for a couple of hours and see for yourself?
