Too many passionate values that contradict the passionate values of others. Different visions and different goals. Way too much pride to listen and take the best of other camps, and create common ground. That can create a tremendous amount of conflict.

The simplest answer would be: because we don't want to get along.

But it's more complicated than that. We are not perfect, which is hard to admit, even to ourselves. To hide that fact (and to make ourselves feel "better") we tend to find fault with the "others". And if the "others" do the same we have a conflict - and we just can't get along, or only with those who agree with us.

There is a way for me to "get along" with just about anybody: I must admit to myself that I am not perfect and that I can be wrong. Then I can make the same allowance for the other, and we can find things/ideas that we can agree on. That leads to understanding and making allowances. And then we can get along.

It's selfishness and arrogance that keeps us from agreeing and getting along. It would be nice if we all could be more compassionate and forgiving, but unfortunately it's not likely.

I think it's because we are "rational" creatures, which means we behave in a way that we think is best for ourselves. As a result, most people approach life from a perspective of competion; we see other groups of humans as adversaries vying for the same resources. It's only natural to not get along with people who are trying to benefit over you and visa versa. But that is a short sited view, in the long run, what's best for ourselves appears to me to be what's best for everyone who effects me. In a global society, that's pretty much everyone. I'm not Christian or religious, but I think that is the fundamental (divine?) truth of most religions, to love everyone as you love yourself; especially Chirstianity and Islam.

i think the best way for us to get along is having a mix marriage.Like example..some men & women from US married some Men & women from Middle East perhaps?

because of different skin colour..language..religion..we do not get along well..maybe its time to unite those differences into one and we don't fight anymore..
