I first think of how General Mac Arther promised to return. I'm not much of a Philippines history buff, my history of the P.I. starts at the beginning of WWII. I think of the P.I. people and others who fought bravely--and won.
I think of the 18 months I spent in the P.I. in the early 70's. I never had a bad thing to say about any of them. But when I got there I learned a new smell--the smell of heat. I'll never forget my first impression of the humidity.
I also think of Imelda Marcus (Spelling??) and her shoes.
I hear of floods and other natural disasters that hits the P.I. and feel sad, I don't know any of the people, but I can empathize with their agony.
I also think of my recently retired doctor. She was from the P.I. I had her for a doctor for several years and was completely satisfied.
All my impressions of the P.I. people are positive.
Good bye

I'm in Australia, never been to the Phillipines and have only met a few Filipino women in Australia (not all of whom came here to marry Australians). My impression of them was:
1. Friendly
2. Family-oriented
3. Money-oriented

Mmm... someone from the Phillipines? Actually I don't have an actual impression (not positive nor negative) about filipinos.

Eerie means spooky, scary, etc. What would come to one's mind: Dark, stormy night. Stealthy figure creeping through the woods. Silhouettes, shadows, and all that dark, scary, spooky stuff. Also, you read Goosebumps (any one book or so) to feel the 'eerie' feeling yourself.
