Why when it show's the system memory for this video card at Newegg.com does it say 1800 MHz.(effective)?

Whey dosn't it just say 1800 MHz like it does for other memory cards?

Well that first answer read like a really well informed, thought out, and insightful analysis. Too bad it's just a big fat pile of crap.

Anyway, the reason it says memory speed (hey first guy, memory speed, not core clock) of 1800Mhz effective, is because all DDR memory is double pumped, meaning it effectively works at twice its actually speed. So the actual speed of the memory is 900Mhz, but its effective speed is 1800Mhz.

When all the other cards are quoting there speeds, they are quoting their effective speeds, but not all of them actually denote that they are quoting the effective speed.

Because this is a Direct X 10 capable card. As such the graphics processor is a little different. It no longer has once core, it has, essentially, 16 cores. These are not physical cores like on your Core Duo computer processors, but are logic cores, like the Pentium 4 with HT. (If you don't understand that jargon don't worry). thus, the MHz of the card cannot be measured directly, and 1800MHz is an approximation.
